Did anyone get a Spiral-Cut Ham this holiday season? Are you wondering what to do with the bone after you have eaten most of the ham? You may have extra ham as well… here is a recipe for Ham Bone Soup to make use of all the leftovers.
You can even store the ham bone in the freezer and make the soup later.
Where to Get a Spiral-Cut Ham
Our ham this year was a gift purchased from Harrington’s and was delicious.

What's So Special?
This soup starts with a Soffritto base and has a hearty, homemade flavor that is perfect for a cold winter day. It starts with everything in a slow cooker, which simmers for hours and hours, making the house smell delicious!
Ingredients and Substitutions
Ham
This recipe starts with a large ham bone with most of the meat cut off. During cooking, the bone becomes clean, and the flavors are incorporated.
Soffritto
There are three main ingredients: onions, carrots, and celery. Then garlic and oil (or butter) are added at the end. I like to keep some cooked and ready to go in the freezer, but in this case, you might want bigger chunks of vegetables in the soup, so you might want to chop them into larger pieces.
White Beans
It is best to soak dried beans overnight and add them to the soup, but canned beans are an option, as well.
